Can I Bring Shaving Cream On A Plane?

Let me paint this picture for you – It’s 7 AM and you’re jolted awake to realize you’ve overslept. You’ve got a flight to catch in an hour so you dash to the airport and make it through security just in the nick of time. You settle into your cramped seat, take a deep breath, and that’s when you look down and realize the absolute horror of your leg hair situation.

The Total Lowdown on Mid-Flight Shaving

It’s not your fault – You’re finally headed to warmer weather and your legs haven’t seen the light of day for months. And maybe it’s only been a few days (or a few weeks) since you last shaved, but things have gotten pretty unruly. At this point, you’re sure the person sitting next to you is sickened by your woolly gams. What do you do?

Well as it so happens, you don’t have to sit in agony the whole flight. You can still arrive at your tropical destination with silky, smooth legs and a fancy cocktail just as you had envisioned.

To help you avoid a fuzzy situation here’s everything you should know about bringing shaving gel on a plane, and don’t worry I won’t skip over any of the hairy details.

Is Personal Care Shave Gel allowed by TSA on a plane?

Tips For Traveling With Shaving Gel On A Plane

To Carry or To Check?

You can put any size shaving gel in your checked bag, so stock up for your trip! However, to reduce the risk of a mid-flight panic attack, I’d throw a travel-friendly option in your carry on bag.

Size Matters

Airlines allow 3.4 ounces or less of shaving gel to be carried on a plane, so as long as your favorite gel fits the bill, you’re good to go! Bear in mind that all of your liquids, gels, and aerosols must fit in one single quart ziplock bag, and it’s only one bag per passenger (the same is true if you’re wondering if you can bring dry shampoo on a plane).

What About My Razor?

You’d think this would be a no-brainer, but surprisingly (and to our great relief), airlines allow disposable razors in carry on luggage! While safety razors are still a no-go, disposable and electric razors are deemed safe and totally cool with TSA.

In-Flight Etiquette

Now that you’re up to speed on all the rules, you can shave mid-flight with ease, well, kind of. Have you ever been in an airplane bathroom? It’s not exactly the ideal place to shave your legs or anything else for that matter, but if you get creative (and desperate enough), I think you’ll manage. Just be mindful of the water situation, I might suggest a showerless shaving gel for much less… acrobatic experience.
